With the development of the pen industry and the needs of the fountain pen market and export services, the pens are required to have the inherent quality of writing fluency, and also to be in line with the world brand Duke, Picasso and other fountain pens for decoration. And artistic, this is the key to winning merchants. For this reason, in order to change the concept of paying attention to the conventional and not paying attention to the appearance requirements, it is necessary to innovate in the appearance of the fountain pen and the processing technology of the pen holder and the pen holder. The innovative fountain pen, in addition to being used for writing, has become a handicraft that everyone carries with me.
This is not to discuss how the fountain pen is made, but to describe how the outer surface decoration process is performed after the stainless steel pen and the pen holder of the fountain pen have been formed. Everyone knows that after processing, the stainless steel presents different colors. This is a conventional decorative processing method, which is not introduced in the market. Now I only show how to make a golden, silver and white color on the pen holder and the pen holder, and have a three-dimensional convex pattern, so that the three-dimensional pattern and the text are permanently retained on the pen holder and the pen holder, and will not be worn due to the hand touch, and indeed become Cultural utensils and art crafts that you carry with you.
How to achieve the above requirements? Non-screen printing methods are not available, and only the organic combination of screen printing and electrochemical coating can achieve perfect results.
This article introduces the main process of making relief-embossed patterns on stainless steel pens and pen holders by using screen printing and electrochemical coating methods, so that this method will further process a variety of process products on different material surfaces. To bring beauty to people's lives, and make the art of silk screen printing more colorful.
First, screen printing parameters and requirements
The fountain pen and pen holder are made of hollow cylinder stainless steel with a diameter of about 10mm. The surface is smooth and clean. It is necessary to make convex landscape paintings, birds and beasts, words, poems, etc. on the outer surface. The most ideal method is curved wire mesh. The combination of printing and electrochemical coating, through the screen printing, the parts that do not need to be patterned are protected with a special printing material (ink), and then electroplated, so that the missing pattern portion is plated with metal, and finally formed into a convex It is a relief-like pattern on the surface of the pen holder and the pen holder. According to the plating plating, the pattern can be decorated with different colors. In order to meet the above requirements, the following conditions should be met.
Screen printing equipment and materials:
1 mesh frame: aluminum alloy frame frame with length of 250~300mm and width of 200~250mm;
2 screen: nylon, polyester mesh or stainless steel wire mesh, the key is that the mesh size should be appropriate;
3 photosensitive adhesive: generally use solvent-resistant Ketutai or Kemeilai diazonium photosensitive adhesive, capillary sheet. The thickness of the photosensitive film is controlled at 30 to 50 um;
4 exposure equipment: the plate light source selection wavelength range is 330 ~ 420nm;
5 squeegee: generally 8 ~ 10mm thick, hardness of 65 ° ~ 75 ° oil-resistant rubber, pay attention to the blade edge must be straight, and processed into two sides chamfer 45 °; or the market hardness 65 ° ~ 75 ° polyurethane finished tip scraping;
6 ink requirements: should be acid-resistant, good coverage, and high insulation resistance.
7 printing machine: homemade curved screen printing machine or purchase special curved screen printing machine. The self-made curved screen printing machine adopts four 80025 type ball bearings as the support frame of the pen holder and the pen holder, as shown in the following diagram.
The bearing of the curved screen printing machine is fixed on a pair of bearing fixing frames with workpiece axial positioning devices, and the distance between the bearings can be adjusted according to the diameter of the workpiece.
The working principle of the surface screen printing: the cylindrical workpiece such as the fountain pen or the pen holder is placed on the fixed ball bearing with only a certain angle, and the screen template with the ink is attached to the upper bus bar of the pen or the pen case, and the blade of the ink blade is used. Vertically perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece, the screen moves parallel to the axis of the workpiece. Due to the pressure of the squeegee and the frictional force of the stencil, the pen or the pen holder is rotated in a concentric circle, and the ink is scraped under the action of the squeegee. The screen is printed on the workpiece. The printed workpiece is taken out, placed in the next workpiece, the mesh stencil is pressed, and the above operation procedure is repeated, and one piece of the workpiece is screen printed.
Second, the process flow and its main process description
1. Process flow
Degreasing treatment of stainless steel pen holders → cleaning → drying → screen printing SP2595 anti-electroplating ink → drying → retouching → drying → electropolishing → weak acid etching → cleaning → pre-nickel plating→ Pre-plated copper → electroplated copper (chromium, silver or gold, etc.) → remove ink → dry packaging.
Note: The imitation gold coloring process is to remove the SP2595 ink after the copper rod and the pen holder are plated with copper, and then process it in the imitation gold liquid.
2. Description of the main processes of screen printing
2.1 Draw black and white draft: The pattern area should be within the range defined by the circumference of the pen holder and the pen sleeve multiplied by the magnification, that is, it should be smaller than the diameter of the pen holder and the pen holder multiplied by π and multiplied by the magnification selected for the draft. Magnification, the pattern is placed on the coated paper, and then the same negative magnification is used to reduce the photo and remake the desired negative film for the screen. For the simple pattern, it can also be directly drawn on the transparent polyester base in a ratio of 1:1 instead of the negative negative film. No matter which method is used, the density of the pattern portion on the negative film must be ensured to obtain a good effect.
2.2 The selected mesh can be stainless steel and monofilament plain woven nylon or polyester mesh. The mesh size is selected in the range of 100-150T/cm according to the fineness of the pattern. If it is less than 100T, the printed pattern is rough; if more than 150T is selected If the non-pattern part of the ink coverage is not good, it will cause "permeation" phenomenon during electroplating, which will destroy the clarity of the whole picture. In severe cases, the ink will fall off.
2.3 photosensitive film (glue): Due to the use of solvent-based inks, the photosensitive material should be solvent-resistant, you can use Ketutai capillary 25-35 film or Keitutai PIUSII photosensitive adhesive to make a net template.
2.4 ink selection principle: the ink must be compatible with the plating solution used, that is, the ink is not dissolved in the plating solution, does not soften and does not peel off; the ink coverage is good, and should have good thixotropic or plasticity The construction is convenient; the ink should have a high resistance value to ensure that the non-patterned portion is not plated with any metal, so that the pattern is clear and not deformed, etc.; the ink is easily removed, and the plating layer and the workpiece are not damaged during the ink removal process.
3. Main problems in the screen printing process
3.1 The squeegee pressure of the squeegee must be perpendicular to the axis of the workpiece. The edge of the squeegee must be in parallel contact with the busbar of the workpiece, so that the squeegee, screen and workpiece are in line contact during the whole process. In order to ensure that the workpiece rotates around its own axis, so that the printed pattern is clear and the position is accurate;
3.2 During the squeegee process, the workpiece can only rotate around its own axis, but not axially. Therefore, an axial positioning device must be provided on the curved screen printing machine, so that the position of the pattern on the workpiece can be ensured accurately, and the patterns on all the workpieces are consistent, and the repeatability of the pattern is ensured;
3.3 In order to make the ink and the workpiece firmly bonded, before the screen printing, the workpiece must be subjected to de-oiling and other surface treatment, and the processed workpiece should be placed in a dust-free place to be printed. Otherwise, even if there is a small stain on the pattern, it will hinder the deposition of the plating layer, causing defects on the pattern;
3.4 ink should be prepared in advance before use, so that the solvent penetration is sufficient, uniform, etc., with good thixotropic properties, more convenient for screen printing;
3.5 After the end of the screen printing, the exposed bottom and the parts of the electroplated parts should be carefully inspected and removed, and the ink should be completely dried before plating. Otherwise, unnecessary scrapping will occur.
3.6 drying, after SP2595 screen printing, drying at 90 ° C ~ 120 ° C, depending on the thickness.
The workpiece is mounted on a plating hanger (spring) on the plating bath pole, and is electroplated according to various plating process specifications. It should be noted here that the contact between the workpiece and the hanger must be reliable, and the contact between the hanger and the plating tank is reliable. After the plating is completed, the tool is removed, the ink is removed, and the surface treatment is performed to obtain a finished pen holder, a pen holder or other decorative crafts.
