According to foreign media reports, Epson recently said that the company has changed the quality, speed and cost of computer-based plate-making technology for small and medium-sized commercial printers by improving the direct aluminum plate technology. According to information released by Epson, this new direct aluminum plate technology has many advantages over the polyester version, including faster and more efficient image separation, and is cheaper and more cost effective to operate.
This water-based plate making system produces a true lithographic aluminum plate in minutes. In addition, Epson added that it provides better solids and halftone cleaning than the typical polyester version.
The company also revealed that the direct aluminum plate technology is an aqueous plate-making system that does not require chemical treatment at all. This process is safer for the plate maker and has a much smaller impact on the local environment than the polyester version.
Epson will also introduce a printer that will use this technology and be equipped with the new Epson Stylus Pro 7900CTP system.
