Newsprint, also known as white paper, is the main paper for newspapers and magazines. Applicable to newspapers, periodicals, textbooks and other text papers, is an indispensable paper. In the early 20th century, "newspaper was the core competitiveness of paper mills." As the nation and society gradually promoted the "digital press," the use of newsprint was gradually declining.

According to a survey conducted by the China Paper Industry Association's 2017 Annual Report released by the China Paper Association, the production of newsprint in 2017 was 2.35 million tons, an increase of -9.62% over the previous 16 years; consumption was 2.67 million tons, an increase of 0.75% over the previous 16 years. The average annual growth rate of production from 2008 to 2017 is -7.19%, and the average annual growth rate of consumption is -5.06%.

It can be found that all newsprint indicators have shown a negative growth trend. From the perspective of the market, the gradual decline in consumption can be traced in many places. The first thing to say is "the rise of new media" and "more and more books and periodicals have chosen the electronic form of books." People gradually put down traditional newspapers and chose to obtain more information through the client, which brought a lot of impact to the market.

As of June 2017, the number of search engine users in China reached 609 million, and the utilization rate was 81.1%. The user size increased by 7.07 million compared with the end of 2016, with a growth rate of 1.2%.

What is more noteworthy is that the growth rate of the paper mills that specialize in making newsprint is also clearly negative. From the dozens of homes in 2017 to the five or six homes today, the number has decreased dramatically! In just four years, the total output of newsprint mills has shrunk from 3.8 million tons to 2.1 million tons this year; newsprint prices have dropped from 5,800 yuan in the highest period in 2008 to around 4,100 today, and have dropped for eight consecutive years.

Due to the significant decrease in newspaper advertising and distribution, the decrease in the demand for newsprint, and the significant increase in the production costs of newsprint, many companies are unable to bear the high costs and market downturn, and have stopped production and transformed.

The idea is extremely extreme. Even though all newspapers use the electronic version, there are two situations where it is impossible to abandon the use of paper!

That is the state-level book publication represented by the party newspaper, and then the student's book homework. The latter we all know that there is no paper book textbook students can not practice writing. The former is even more important! These national publications are bound to be published! ! !

But the difficulty that lies ahead is that newsprint is not enough!

Therefore, as a carrier for the dissemination of the Party newspaper, newsprint is a strategic material for the country. In the consumption of paper products is a very important part of the needs of the continuous development of newsprint needs the support of the country and the market. In order to ensure the continuous supply chain of demand, Xiao Bian boldly speculated that the country may force certain paper mills to quantitatively produce newsprint and further promote new products.

For the current state of the newsprint industry, Xiao Bian believes that the current industry must face up to the difficulties encountered at present, and use innovation to lead the transformation and upgrading of paper newspapers, and develop a sustainable development path.
