What are the elements of book printing?

Modern books are usually composed of book blocks, cover sheets, title pages, copyright pages (including content abstracts and copyrights), prefaces, catalogues, texts, postscripts, references, and appendices. The elements of a commercial desktop publication are generally much smaller than books with a book number.

1. Cover (including book cover)

Refers to the appearance of books wrapped outside the book block. Mostly consists of five parts: the front mouth, the front cover, the spine, the bottom cover, and the back mouth. The book case, also called "envelope", is made of cardboard and has a hard cover that is slightly larger than the book block. The word "cover" in this section refers to the one book. Due to the different forms of publication binding, the composition of the cover is also different. The covers of the book of saddleback include the four pages of the cover (Block 1), the cover (Block 2), the back cover (Block 3), and the back cover (Block 4). In addition to the above four parts, paperback books also have a spine part between the front cover and the back cover. Some paperback books have ring linings and mouths

The hard cover of the hardcover book is also referred to as the book case. After the hard cover book book and the book block are connected, the edge of the book case should extend beyond the three-sided cut of the book block by about 2 to 4 mm. This excess part is called the floating port. Regardless of the form of the cover, the cover (the cover) is the main part, and it should at least have the three parts of the title, the author's name, and the publisher's name. The back cover (Front Cover) should have at least the book's standard book number, bar code, and pricing. Seal 2 and Seal 3 can be either blank or printed. Ring liners, liners can be blank, and patterns and text can also be printed.

The book block is the part that carries the main content of the book (including the text and some auxiliary texts), and is composed of a number of signatures (sets or folds).

The signature: Due to the different size of the printing press and the different size of the book, different sizes of sheets can be printed with different numbers of pages after printing. For example, for full-opening paper, /16 indicates that after the full-open paper is printed, 16 pages will be folded out, ie, 16 pages; if it is 1/12 of the half-opened paper, it means that after the half-open paper is printed, 12 pages are folded. Then this full-open paper is 24 open, fold well

A set of paper is called a book. A sheet of paper with two pages on the front and back is called a page because books are printed on both sides. Before printing, imposition software or manual imposition is used to ensure that folded pages conform to the page number sequence. The imposition principle is shown in the text design section.

3. Spine (also known as spine)

It refers to the spine that connects the front cover and the back cover. The title, number of copies (volumes, books, volumes), authors, names of translators, and publishers are generally printed on the spine for easy search. According to the national standard G611668-89 "The spine rules of books and other publications", when its thickness (book back width) is greater than or equal to 5mm, its main book name should be designed and printed.
