In the process of making electronic lesson plans, the scanner is an important device for us to obtain the image of the lesson plan. In general, we always rely on the hope of obtaining a high-quality image on a scanner with a higher grade. Is there a high-quality digital image with a higher-grade scanner? Not also! In order to obtain high-quality digital images, in addition to having a sophisticated "weapon", you must also practice the following "inner power method."

Interpolation resolution selection

The so-called "interpolation resolution" refers to the resolution built into the scanner by interpolation compensation techniques, which is usually much higher than the optical resolution. However, it has little effect on improving the image quality, but it increases the size of the image file several times or even dozens of times, and reduces the scanning speed. Therefore, in the general use of the school, if it is not for the high-quality map image printout for the geographic teaching and research group, it is of little significance to choose an interpolation resolution that is too high.

Post-processing of scanned images

Almost all scanners have four problems in different degrees: 1. Overall contrast distortion; 2. Image color cast; 3. Web pattern (mesh); 4. Focal length is not accurate. Although many scanners compensate for these adverse effects as much as possible by providing hardware or software to the network and setting filters in the driver, post-processing of the scanned image is essential for best results.

First, use the standard TWAIN interface to scan a true color image. In order to adjust the overall contrast distortion, select “Image/Adjust/Levels” in turn. In the pop-up window, adjust the position of the left and right small triangles and preview them. The window looks at the adjusted effect until it is satisfied. Usually, two small triangles are moved in the middle, so that after scanning multiple images multiple times and repeatedly adjusting, we can "quantize" the overall contrast distortion of the scanner image, that is, determine the movement of the left and right small triangles. Direction and magnitude. If the image is color cast, you can select “Image/Adjust/Change” in turn, and select the effect map closest to the original image in the pop-up window. Similarly, after many experiments, the degree of color cast of the scanner is known.

The next step is to remove the dots and perform "filters/mosquito/spotting". How about the image is much clearer! The last step is to make up for the error in the focal length of the scanner. Perform “Filter/Sharpening/USM Sharpening” and carefully adjust the parameters in the window. Note that the radius (Radius) value should not be adjusted too large, so that the image can be made. More clear. After many experiments, the focus error of the scanner is also known.

After the above treatment, you will find the image more realistic and finer! If you are in trouble, you can use the "Action" function in Photoshop to make the above steps into an "action". The next time you need to deal with it, you only need to execute this "action" to get it all at once !
