Ten Printing Facts
1. What is spot color printing?
Other inks other than CMYK four-color printing. It needs to be used with the corresponding color card, and spot color printing has more vivid and stable colors.
2. What is four-color printing?
That is, the subtractive color method is used to print the three primary colors cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and black (K), which is the most commonly used printing method.
3. What is single black?
That is: CO MO YO K100, the black printed with single black will not be affected by other colors and cause color casts, color correction strips.
4. What is die-cutting?
It is a common printing process that works by applying pressure to cut the load through a knife plate. It can be used to cut simple special shapes, can be used to open windows, and can also be used to make common tear-off strips on packaging.
5. What is laser die-cutting?
It is often used to make complex hollow structures by using a high-power laser to irradiate the carrier and heat it to form a hole that forms a continuous shape with high precision as the beam moves.
6. What is convex?
The common printing process, the principle is to make the carrier show an upward convex texture through pressure, the principle is similar to hot stamping, mainly to highlight the effect of graphics and increase the sense of touch.
7. What is denting
The principle of the common printing process is to make the carrier show a downward concave texture through pressure, which is similar to hot stamping, which mainly plays a role in highlighting the graphic effect and increasing the touch.
8. What is a metallic color?
It refers to the printing of colors with metallic luster on the substrate, which enhances the sense of printing material and grade.
In the PANTONE color card, the 3 digits starting with 8 and the 5 digits starting with 10 are all metallic.
The most commonly used is 871-877, where 871-876 is gold, from greenish blue-gold to reddish reddish, and 877 is silver.
9. Pastel or macarons
This is a low-saturation color ink, which Pantone named pastel, and designers called macarons. Macaron color is a very popular color matching on the Internet in recent years, but it is rarely seen in offline packaging printing, because these colors are difficult to print well with four-color printing. The lower the saturation, the more obvious the uneven effect, so in a large area, and it is low saturation, it is recommended to use spot color to print in order to print the effect.
10. What is neon color?
In the Pantone color card, there is a color called neon, commonly known as fluorescent color. However, this fluorescent color does not glow in the dark, just like the effect of our commonly used highlighter, which is only much higher than the saturation of ordinary ink, and is particularly conspicuous after printing. This kind of fluorescent ink is already prepared by the ink factory before leaving the factory and sent to the printing factory.
