Tinting strength refers to the ability of an ink layer to display color intensity on a substrate. It is one of the quality indicators that characterize ink concentration or saturation.

The tinting strength of the ink is determined not only by the pigment concentration, content and dispersion in its structure, but also by the selective absorption and reflection of light waves by the ink film. Generally speaking, when the pigment content is large and the degree of dispersion is large, the coloring power is strong; on the contrary, the coloring power is weak. Since lithographic offset printing is an indirect printing method, the thickness of the ink film on the printed sheet is relatively thin, so it needs to be compensated by the coloring power of the ink. In the offset printing process, the tinting strength of the ink is not only directly related to the printing effect and the quality of the printed product, but also closely related to the amount of ink used per unit area. If the ink with strong coloring power is used, the ink with less coloring power is less consumed, and a good printing effect can be obtained. The choice of tinting strength of the ink is usually based on the graphic nature of the print. If the printed color network cable is mainly used, the application of strong coloring power is advantageous for the reaction small dots. When the printing is full of the field, the application of the tinting strength is slightly weaker.

In the offset printing process, the determination of the strength of the ink coloring can be generally compared with the amount of ink transferred from the surface of the ink roller and the coloring density of the printed product. If the amount of ink is large, and the concentration of the printed product is insufficient, it indicates that the coloring power is weak; otherwise, it is strong.

Viscosity is the viscosity of the ink when it flows.
