CorelDRAW is a powerful comprehensive software package with graphics, image processing, web page creation, typography, cartoon animation and more.
One of the most widely used applications of CorelDRAW in China is the pre-work of print typography for publications, commonly known as prepress work. Although this is only a part of the function of CorelDRAW, but because we are dealing with other work, we will habitually call other software, such as processing images, we will use Photoshop immediately, we will use Dreamweaver to make web pages, and we will use Flash in animation. Etc; so here, I will take a small card as an example, from the layout of the graphics to the drawing of the die model for a brief introduction.
Imposition work:
Before making a print layout, we need to do some analysis on the work object, such as what paper to use, what press to prepare, what process to use, whether to do art processing or special crafts. To save space, I will save it.
1. Open the CorelDRAW software and the system will automatically create a “Graph 1” file.
2. Select the fifth--rectangle tool from the toolbox on the left, and draw a rectangle in the blank space next to the specified paper on the system, the size is not limited. Then change its size to 125 x 185mm on the property toolbar (the finished size will be 120 x 175mm after folding)
3. Use the pick tool to select the rectangle you just painted. Hold down the Ctrl key and use the mouse to drag the rectangle to the left. When a rectangular box with the same original rectangle appears on the screen, the left button does not press the right button, which is to the left of the original rectangle. There is another rectangle like this.
4. Put a picture that has been processed in the box on the right, and add the company information text to the lower part of the box on the left. Form a card style.
5. Select all the objects on the card and press Ctrl+G or the “Group” item under the “Arrange” menu. Group each object to make it an object. For the convenience of subsequent engineering operations.
6. Select the selection tool and draw a rectangle in a blank space, and adjust the size to 546 x 787mm (positive folio size to represent the paper).
7. Draw a rectangle in the box of the folio, with a size of 526 x 777mm (5mm of bleeding on each of the upper and lower sides, 15mm on the left, and 5mm on the right). The core is the effective printing area). Select both rectangles and select Align and Distribute in the Arrange menu. In the pop-up dialog box, select “Right” for the horizontal item and “Medium” for the vertical item to align the two rectangles.
8. Because the right side of the two rectangles are close together after the previous step, we are asking for a distance of 5mm, so we need to adjust. If you adjust it manually, its position is not accurate enough. Select the "Select" tool. When you are not selecting any object, adjust the fine adjustment distance on the property toolbar to 5mm, then select the rectangle of 526 x 777mm and click the left arrow. This rectangle is The other rectangular frame is separated by 5mm so that there is also a 5mm bleeding position on the right side of the paper.
9. Because the finished size of the card is 120 x 175mm after folding, plus the bleeding position, the full size of the design draft is 250 x 185mm. Now we are going to put the cards on the paper. Select the grouped card, then select the inner frame on the paper, select "Align and Distribute" in the "Arrange" menu, select "Left" in the horizontal item, and "Up" in the vertical item to insert the card and the inner frame. Align the top left corner; select the card, copy and paste, then adjust the rotation value to 180 in the property bar to flip it so that the pattern parts of the two cards are opposite; adjust the fine adjustment distance to 250mm, paste the card after selection, click the right direction The arrow, the two cards become the pattern of the arrangement of the pattern, this method is called "head to head" imposition.
Because printing often causes deformation of the paper due to temperature and humidity, in order to minimize the occurrence of plate inaccuracy for this reason, we should try to close the pattern or color complex parts close to the mouth. Bit.排 After the first line above is arranged, then call the “Deformation” option in the “Arrange” menu. In the pop-up dialog box, set the vertical distance to the height of the card to 185mm, because we want to shift it down. So set it to -185mm, then select two cards and press "Apply to Remanufactured Objects". Each press will copy a pair of cards down and the position is very accurate. After three consecutive presses, there were four pairs of eight cards on the layout, and the paper was no longer available.
At this point, the imposition is complete. The specification is to fight the eight-mode/positive folio. Although there is some waste of paper, this situation is inevitable. If you want to reduce the waste of paper, we can use the pen and paper to budget before the imposition, such as this example. In the version, the printed surface of the card after the eight-mode is 500 x 740mm, while the split size of the positive paper is 546 x 787mm, and the split layout of the large paper is 597 x 889mm. The split size of the special paper is 444 x 634mm, obviously the waste of other paper seems to be even bigger, so it is still appropriate to use positive paper.
Drawing of the die diagram:
The completion of the imposition does not mean that the typesetting work is over. We have another very important job - the drawing of the die.
After each printing process is completed, it has to be divided into individual finished products. For example, the above-mentioned imposition example has to be divided into eight finished cards after printing. It is impossible to cut with scissors when splitting, we have to make another version - the knife template. Of course, in the general printing factory, you don't have to do the knife mold yourself. You only need to draw the knife mold line, then send it to the knife mold factory. The knife mold factory will make the knife version, and then take it back to the beer machine to go to the beer. Press, then remove the paper edge and arrange it neatly to hand over to the customer.
The drawing of the die line is done on the basis of the printing plate. In fact, it is to draw the line of the actual finished product on a plate containing the bleeding position (without filling the color). Let's start the die line. Drawing:
1. The finished product size we set above is 120 x 175mm after folding, and it is 250 x 185mm (including bleeding) after expansion.
2. Use a rectangle tool to draw a rectangle with a size of 239 x 175mm. Select the rectangle and then select the card in the upper left corner of the printing plate. Press the “C” key to align vertically. Press the “E” key to align horizontally. The rectangle is at The center of the card. Adjust the fine adjustment distance to 0.5mm, select the rectangle you just painted, and press the right arrow to move it to the right by 0.5mm (because the rectangle has been reduced, so if you do not move 0.5mm to the right, both sides will appear Each was 5.5mm bleeding, but our goal was to have 5mm bleeding on the right and 6mm bleeding on the left). Select the Bezier tool, draw a line with a vertical height of 175mm, and center it vertically to the right of the rectangle. Adjust the trimming value to 120mm. Select the vertical line and press the left arrow. The vertical line divides the rectangle into the right. 120mm, 119mm on the left, as shown in Figure 9. Here, the front is divided into 120mm, and the back is set to 119mm, because it is afraid that the back of the beer will be over-fronted due to the inaccurate printing of the beer. After the reduction of 1-2mm, it will not worry about the finished product. There is a defect in the open back (that is, the paper on the back side as seen from the front of the card face).
3, select the rectangle (the border is set to a solid line, indicating that you need to cut) and the vertical line (the border is set to a dotted line, indicating that only the indentation is not cut) and grouped as an object, call the "deformation" dialog box in "Arrange" In the "Position" item, set the vertical value to -185mm, the horizontal value to 0, and then click "Apply to Remanufactured Object" three times. The left card die line is basically completed; select four newly created rectangles. In the "Deformation" dialog box, set the horizontal value of 249mm, the vertical item to 0, and then click "Apply to Remanufactured Object" to copy the other four die lines; set the eight card patterns and previous settings. The positioning rectangle of the bite and the bleeding position is removed, and as a result, only eight rectangular frames remain on the paper.
At this point, the printing plate and the die plate are completed, and the follow-up work is to produce the film. Normally, the four color plates of cyan, magenta, yellow and black are printed together with a knife die. If you want to print other processes, you can Need to make another film. Because the filming and plate making belong to the work of the printing room, the prepress work ends here.
