Prepress/printing
◆Principle: Choose the appropriate printing method according to different product content and use.
1, FM network printing
Features: The level of the image is represented by the density of the dots, without the need for screening; avoiding the netting caused by the screening (that is, the so-called turtle or rose); it can open the layer of the dark tone of the image.
Disadvantages: The reduction of the flat net is not as good as that of the AM, so it is not suitable for light-tone and smooth images, such as morning fog, white or light skin or no texture.
Applicability: Suitable for products with high margins and high sharpness, such as oil paintings of steel, metal and rock, and landscape characters with rich color; products suitable for more image lines, such as clothes, curtains and fabrics. Products; products suitable for simulation printing, such as monuments and paintings.

2, high network printing
Features: The prints are delicate and soft, and can fully express the image and meticulousness of the picture.
Disadvantages: When printing with high-speed screen, it is easy to form a paste when the dot is enlarged during the printing process. High-light and dark-tone are easy to cause image layer loss.
Applicability: It is necessary to determine whether it is necessary to use high-line printing according to the content and use of the product; it is suitable for high-end products with fine performance and close-up, such as albums, advertisements, trademarks, etc.
As shown in the above figure, the book "Live" is printed on a 300-line high-speed cable. The text in this book is mostly black and white images. The layering of the image cannot be reflected by the color change. Therefore, high-line printing is adopted to increase the layering and delicateness of the image.
3, high fidelity printing
Features: Compared with ordinary four colors, its color gamut has a wider range of reproduction and more realistic reflection of natural colors.
Disadvantages: High requirements for equipment, need to have six or more color printing presses, and require high printing accuracy; high printing costs, such as increased printing plates, increased ink costs, increased color separation software.
Applicability: Suitable for high-simulation products, such as copying of calligraphy and copy, copying of solitary copies, etc.; suitable for commercial printing of advertising, such as calendars and merchandise packaging.
As shown in the figure below, the "Excellent Chromatography" book uses high-fidelity six-color printing, and the ink used is Hexachrome (high-fidelity six-color) ink.
Binding/printing
◆Principle: To achieve the cooperation between materials and processes, and to achieve the desired results by using various binding and post-press processes.
1. Coordination of process and materials
The combination of hot stamping process and shell surface material: good hot stamping effect on materials such as leather, leather, paper and rubber surface.
If the surface is rough, the hot stamping is easy to fall off. If the hot stamping font is too small, it is easy to paste. Therefore, the hot stamping should pay attention to the choice of the shell material and the size of the hot stamping font.
The bonding process of the glue and the ink: the surface of the metal ink is pasted. Due to the characteristics of the metal ink, the phenomenon of the film separation is easy to occur after the glue is applied. Therefore, it should be noted that this problem is avoided when the surface of the large-sized metal ink is glued. .
The automatic production of equipment and the cooperation of materials: In the production of hardcover books, if the leather is used as the shell fabric, the machine production speed is fast, the setting time is short, and the shaping effect is not ideal. It is recommended to use the upper shell or other fabrics.
2. Application of PUR binding technology
Features: strong adhesion, long storage time; strong adaptability, can be used in high temperature or low temperature environment; good flexibility, easy to spread reading; protect the environment, no VOC (volatile organic matter), does not pollute the environment. As shown in the lower left figure, the book made with PUR glue is easy to read.
Applicability: It has a wide range of applications. It has good fixing ability for the printed materials after surface treatment such as UV, varnish and film.
3. Application of flocking technology
Features: vivid image, strong three-dimensional sense, soft handfeel, bright pattern and pattern, flocking is not easy to fall off.
Matters needing attention: paper surface, rubber surface, leather material, leather material suitable for flocking; cloth with too deep cloth is not suitable for flocking because it is not sticky; UV surface is not suitable for flocking, it will not stick well.
As shown in the upper right picture, the flowers and text patterns on the cover of the "Decorative Decoration Guide" are realized by flocking technology. Through such processing, the content of the cover and the text is more appropriate and the stereoscopic effect is stronger.
4. Application of other process technologies
Other applications such as embossing, partial UV, flash powder, glass beads, luminous ink, scented ink, wrinkle oil, matte effect, etc. are not introduced one by one.
Material use
◆ Principle: It needs to be selectively used according to material characteristics and product design.
1. Selection of papers
For products with high printing quality requirements such as albums, matte coated paper is generally used (so that it does not look very glaring when reading); for ordinary reading materials such as textbooks, book paper (adhesive paper) is generally used; for classical reading materials For text-based readings, beige paper is generally used, which means that the grade is high. For products with high requirements such as duplicates of replicas and famous paintings, it can be printed on rice paper.
2, the choice of cover paper
For high-end hardcover products, some leather materials can be used as the shell surface (but specifically, it is necessary to determine which fabric to use according to the content and design style of the product). For mid-range hardcover products, you can use leather or cloth as the shell surface. For ordinary hardcover products, coated paper can be used as a glue.
3, the use of materials should take into account the practicality of the product
For different products, special materials are selected according to their functions.
As shown in the above picture, "Bicycle Tour Victoria" is printed on synthetic paper. Synthetic paper is characterized by high and low temperature resistance, water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, and abrasion resistance, and is suitable for use in special environments.
4, the use of materials must take into account environmental protection
With the emphasis on environmental protection, environmental printing will become the development direction of printing in the future, such as the use of FSC (Forest Management Committee) certified paper, soybean environmental ink, alcohol-free fountain solution, water-based varnish and the introduction of water-based film technology Wait.
