During the period, the broad meaning has also changed: the former company only thought about whether to adopt CtP, but now it is the time and technology chosen. This consideration extends to another question - which technology is the best for the company?
One of the features of CtP is that its imaging technology is innovated every time in a short period of time. From 1990 to 1995, the blue argon-ion laser built-in roller plate-making machine used by CtP was replaced by the Green FD-YAG laser at the Drupa exhibition in 1995. Since 1998, the emergence of the 830nm diode external thermal plate-making machine has become the leading technology in the printing industry, which has impacted the built-in roller plate-making machine market. The newspaper industry still prefers the built-in roller and flat plate-making machine with visible laser light source, so its market share is 90%. In drupa2000, the 405nm purple diode built-in roller plate making machine has come back, successfully recovering the token of victory from thermal technology in the printing industry. In the same period, the German company BasysPrint also developed an ultraviolet platform plate-making machine that can project traditional touch plates. Each technology has its advantages
Today's technologies have their own advantages and disadvantages. The thermal workflow wins with stability and low cost, and supports a wide range of platesetters and plates. However, newspapers and smaller format users also have to worry about the cost of making machine heads, and the choice of thermal newspaper platesetters is extremely inadequate. Eight years after the computer-based platesetter Trendsetter, the printing plate maker market giant Creo launched a new generation of thermal platesetters in 2004. Regardless of whether the process-free thermal plate is a breakthrough, it is a great news for the users of smaller layouts.
Low cost purple diode
Purple diode platesetters attract many small companies and new CtP users due to their low cost. Through the use of Fuji and Lastra polymer materials, the type of printing plate has also been continuously improved; the introduction of the Agfa purple laser N91 will not be the last new purple printing plate. Different technologies have their market space
Today or in the foreseeable future, we are equally uncertain about what kind of imaging technology is the giant of the entire market. On the contrary, the visible light laser plate-making machine and the thermal plate-making machine have also occupied a seat in the offset printing market, which can be said to be evenly divided. For example, BasysPrint's CtcP technology using traditional printing plates is gradually emerging, and its market capacity remains to be seen. At the same time, other developments such as the inkjet system (Pisces Jetplate) are in the early stages, so it is still necessary to observe. CtP merges with FM network
Offset printers need to stand out in a fiercely competitive environment. The key is whether the FM outlet program can ensure its competitiveness. With today's technology, the CtP technology FM network is feasible in view of the improved FM network algorithm and the more stable CtP system and printing plate. But the success of FM outlets requires "digital integration," which means using data to create finer prints, monitor color management, continuous process control, and press color/water balance safety. If the basic production technology is monitored, there should be no obstacles to the use of FM outlets.
