HP6L laser printer is a widely used A4 format economical laser printer. It is inexpensive, has 600dpi resolution, and is compatible with various application software under DOS and Windows environment. It has good print quality and trouble-free running time. Longer, it is more common in general institutions and families. Pay attention to the following tips when using:


1. Use random software

The HP6L laser printer uses HP's traditional PCL control commands, so it can be used in DOS and Windows environments, but the printer has some features of the Windows printer: there is only one button and three indicators on the panel, and the working status can be Displayed on the host screen, the operator can also directly set the printer parameters and control the printer work through the host, so the software that comes with the software is very useful. This is often overlooked by the user. After buying the printer and connecting it to the host, it is used immediately. The random software is not installed at all, which brings great inconvenience to the use and maintenance of the printer. 2. Try to shut down in the Ready state

When the device is not turned off in the Ready state, it is easy to generate an "Error" light. The "Error" light is long due to lack of paper, improper installation of the toner cartridge, and the cover is not closed. At this time, check the printer status with the supplied HPLJUTIL software. The STATUS screen shows that the current paper feed port is out of paper because the user is feeding the paper. After printing a few sheets of paper, the printer is turned off, and the next time the power is turned on, the paper is fed from the rear feed. To print other content, the printer always detects that the front paper feed is out of paper, so "Error The light will be on and the printer will not work. At this time, as long as a piece of paper is fed into the front paper feed port and the printer is returned to the Ready state, normal use can be resumed. Therefore, to prevent this from happening, you should turn off the printer's power while in the Ready state.


3. Problems to be aware of when using business card paper

The HP6L laser printer uses a vertical feed method that allows the printer to detect the presence of paper as long as the paper naturally falls into the paper feed port. At this time, the paper just touches the pickup roller. Since the business card paper is usually thicker and heavier, it is relatively difficult to feed the paper, so it is easy to cause no paper feed or paper jam. For this reason, when installing the business card paper, hold the paper with both hands, and apply the force downwards evenly so that the paper enters the bottom of the pickup roller as much as possible to ensure smooth paper feeding. Business card paper is susceptible to moisture, and the weight will increase after damp, making paper feeding more difficult, so the business card paper should be kept dry.


Second, important maintenance technology


Although HP6L laser printers have many advantages, they also have some shortcomings, such as printing speed is not fast enough, paper picking after paper jam is not as good as Canon BX, etc., so it is not very common in general printing units, but there are some units as Auxiliary machines (especially for printing on sulfuric acid paper, etc.) are used. Therefore, understanding the maintenance and operation of some important components is of great benefit to our work.


Due to the complexity of the external equipment of a general laser printer, it is under high voltage, high temperature, and laser scanning under working conditions. In the harsh environment of toner pollution, the general user lacks basic maintenance knowledge, and rarely pays attention to maintenance work. Generally, the repair is performed after the fault occurs. Some printers have serious faults, so that they have no repair value and are scrapped. . In fact, the regular maintenance of the printer is very important. Through the maintenance, the printer is always in good working condition, which can improve the printing quality, reduce the wear of the components, extend the service life of the printer, and prevent serious troubles.


Under normal circumstances, the inside of the printer should be inspected and cleaned at the same time as the toner cartridge is replaced. Especially for the inspection and cleaning of the vulnerable parts of the printer, such as the pickup roller, transfer roller, fixing assembly, etc. The replacement should be replaced in time, otherwise it is easy to cause cascading failure, which wastes time and increases the difficulty of maintenance. The maintenance cost will also increase a lot. Therefore, we must pay attention to daily general maintenance.


The key maintenance parts are as follows:


1. Rubber wheel for each part

Scrub with a cleaning agent, then use a hair dryer to prevent excessive moisture from immersing in the rubber wheel, so that the rubber wheel aging loses friction.


2. Paper path

Use MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) to erase the toner in the paper path. When scrubbing, be careful not to break the photoelectric sensor and mechanical lever in the paper path.


3. Mirror

Clean it with a brush from the device itself, and if necessary, clean it with a cotton ball dampened with a small amount of alcohol to improve print quality.


4. Photoelectric sensor

It is important to clean the opto-electronic eyes of both ends with alcohol cotton. This part is more important. The photoelectric sensor is blocked by the see-through window, and the photoelectric information is blocked, which is one of the main causes of paper jam and malfunction.


5. Fixing heating roller and pressure rubber roller

They can be cleaned with a soft cloth dampened with silicone oil. If the surface of the roller is heavily contaminated, it can be scraped off with a plastic sheet.


Note: The surface of the heating roller is coated with Teflon film (the printers of the main HP series have used fixing sleeves in recent years), and cannot be scraped with sharp tools. The fluoro film or the fixing sleeve on the surface of the fixing roller must be replaced if it is damaged. The damage point is one of the main causes of vertical equidistant defects on the paper surface and paper jam.


6. In and out paper guides

The toner adhered to it can be cleaned with MEK solvent until it is clean and sleek. This is the most easily collected part of the toner, and it is also one of the main parts of the paper jam.


7. Main control board

Many printer main control boards are placed at the bottom of the machine. For long-term use, there will be a lot of toner and paper dust falling into it to form pollution. In the case of factors such as air humidity, it is easy to make the line slightly short-circuited, causing the voltage at the working point to shift to a normal value, affecting the normal operation of the printer, and some may cause serious failure. Care should be taken when cleaning the circuit board. It is best to remove the circuit board. First clean the contaminants on the board components with a brush and then vacuum them with a vacuum cleaner. If the toner is not easily removed on the component, it can be cleaned with a small amount of alcohol and then dried with a hair dryer.


8. Mechanical transmission parts

The maintenance of mechanical transmission components mainly includes: cleaning the occlusal parts of the transmission gears and lubricating the gear shafts, preferably using thermal resistance grease. Clean the dirt in the shaft with MEK solution before applying grease and apply new grease. In order to keep all parts fully lubricated, the operation is smooth without generating noise and ensuring stable operation.
