How to master the ink and water balance is a difficult point in the offset printing process. Let me introduce some of the experiences I have summarized in my long-term work.
Practice has proved that when the moisture of the layout is too large, the ink color on the printed sheet is correspondingly lightened. Conversely, if the moisture of the layout is too small, the amount of ink is correspondingly reduced to adapt to the new balance, so that the depth of the ink remains consistent.
We know that if the water is too small, the blank will get dirty, and if the water is too large, it will affect the printing quality. In this regard, I have summarized the following points:
1. hinder the normal transmission of the ink, forming a blank illusion;
2. The color of the product is uneven, especially before and after printing;
3. Increasing the deformation of the paper will make the graphic overprinting inaccurate;
4. Excessive water absorption of the paper causes curling and uneven delivery;
5. Damp the roller pad or make the roller housings out of alignment;
6. Because the ink color is dilute, the picture is dry, the outline is not displayed, and the color is old;
7. The color of the ink drops, sometimes it is necessary to increase the amount of ink, so that the dots become ambiguous, the level is unclear, causing the phenomenon of large water and large ink;
8. The color change of the imprint is large, resulting in color error of the proof;
9. The gloss of the print is reduced and the drying speed is also slow;
10. Accelerate the deinking of the ink roller, and if the ink becomes large, the surface will be dirty and the back of the printed sheet will be stained.
It can be seen that the amount of water used is one of the important indicators of technical proficiency. Normally, the water consumption should be kept to a minimum when the ink balance is in the lowest range. However, it is not mechanically stipulated that the amount of water used depends on the speed of the machine, the area of the layout, the nature of the paper, and the thickness of the imprinted ink layer.
The water consumption of the control panel should be based on the premise that the layout is not dirty. Whether the water content of the layout can be correctly identified is a necessary condition for controlling the water consumption. At present, the amount of water identified is usually estimated by experience and requires us to explore it repeatedly.
Here are some signs of moisture:
1. The inking roller and the water transfer roller enter the rolling "point" to accumulate into water droplets;
2. The ink is lightly printed, and it is not easy to make the ink color deeper in time after adding ink;
3. The amount of ink on the surface of the ink roller is very large, but the amount of ink on the ink is not deep;
4. Before and after the interruption of printing, there is a big difference in ink color;
5. The printed sheet is weak compared to the original paper;
6. The paper edge curls downwards and the paper is not aligned;
7. The imprint of the printed sheet and the edge of the blank area have a wavy emptiness phenomenon;
8. The rubber and plate cylinder liner are wetted by moisture;
9. Other phenomena of "big water and big ink".
Through daily observation and analysis, we can timely discover and control various water consumption problems to ensure the quality of printed products.
