In color printing, how to properly arrange the order of color printing is an important topic for process technicians. An important role of printing is to copy the manuscript artistically, which requires the printer to have a certain artistic appreciation and ability to master the color change. Improper arrangement of color sequence may lead to color shift, color mixing and reverse overprinting of printed matter; scientific arrangement of color sequence will make the printed matter closer to the original, and even strengthen a certain color atmosphere, so that the level is clear, the dots are clear, and the overprint is accurate. The colors are real, natural and harmonious.

There are three reasons for the arrangement of the color sequence: the influence of the ink overprinting and the shortcomings of the ink color itself, the quality of the paper, and the ability of the human eye to recognize the color. The most fundamental reason for this is the incomplete transparency of the printing ink itself, that is, the hiding power of the ink itself. The ink printed on the back has a certain covering effect on the ink layer which is printed first, so that the color of the printed product always emphasizes the performance of the latter color, or the mixed color of the back color and the front color.

The starting point for selecting the color sequence is to arrange the color sequence according to the specific conditions of the original and the current process conditions, taking care of the main aspects (such as tone reproduction, color reproduction, graphic definition, printing uniformity and printing repetition rate). .

The following points arrange the principle of color sequence for the reference of the majority of peers.

1. Arrange the color sequence according to the original content and characteristics. Printing is a means of expressing layout design, and the emotional components of each color are different. Therefore, the arrangement of the color sequence must first consider the content and characteristics of the original. When editing the graphic layout, the editor has often chosen the tone of the layout color. This tone is the overall feeling of the entire tone, becoming the dominant color in printing. In terms of color, red, orange, and yellow are called warm colors; green and blue are called cool colors. Because of the hiding power of the ink, the first is mainly black and green, and the later printed magenta and yellow are mainly warm-toned; the first printed magenta is mainly cold-pressed, and the cyan is printed later. Anyone who wants ripe watermelons is red, and they don't want to see purple and greenish prints. The color sequence is different, and the color shift effect is also different. Therefore, the color of the picture color needs to be strengthened, and it can be printed in the last color.

2. Arrange the color sequence by the transparency of the ink. A good transparency ink, after the two colors are overprinted, the color of the ink layer below can pass through the upper ink layer to achieve better color reduction and mixing, showing the correct new color. If the yellow ink used is transparent yellow, the order of transparency of the four inks is: yellow > magenta > cyan > black. In general, inks with poor transparency are printed first, and inks with good transparency are printed.

3. Arrange the color sequence from the advantage of overprinting. Due to the objective defects such as deformation and expansion of the paper, we can arrange the main colors of the printing products with higher overprinting requirements in the adjacent two color groups. For example, the two-color machine can be arranged in one printing at the same unit to avoid problems such as paper stretching caused by the presence of paper. Large areas of the field, you can arrange post-printing to avoid problems such as smudging during the paper transfer process. In addition, the monochrome machine superimposes the second color after the first color is "dry", and the multicolor machine is a process of "wet and wet", so the viscosity of the ink and the amount of ink should be controlled. That is to say, it is very important to arrange the ink with high viscosity to be printed first, and the ink with small viscosity to be printed. Otherwise, it will cause the drawback of reverse overprinting.

4. Arrange the color order by considering the nature of the paper. Paper of poor quality, considering its whiteness, low smoothness, loose fibers, poor ink absorption, easy to drop powder, can be printed with yellow ink to compensate for the above defects of paper. When printing at night, the weak color ink with low brightness is not suitable for printing in the first color due to the recognition of the human eye. The order of lightness of the ink is: white < yellow < orange < green < green < red < blue < purple.

5. Consider process factors such as plate making. When the printing is performed, the angles of the adjacent two color groups differ by at least 30°, which is advantageous for preventing color deviation and moiré.

6. Arrange the color order according to cost. Cheap black, green ink first printed, high price magenta, yellow ink after printing.

Generally, the large-scale scenery is dominated by the picture (cold tone is the keynote), and the order of black, magenta, cyan, and yellow is in color. Arrange black first print, black to outline, easy to overprint the rest of the color. The transparent yellow final print can be used to adjust the brightness of the entire picture to form a glossy, vivid color. Generally, the character-oriented picture (warm tone) is in black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. Ink with poor transparency is printed first and does not cover other colors. The magenta and yellow prints make the characters rosy, rich in color and realistic in effect.

Color printing is a combination of technology and art. When we arrange the printing color sequence, the appropriate artistic considerations can make the printed matter more artistic and satisfy the needs of the readers.
