First, the strips and empty colors are not properly matched
Since the bar code reading is read by the different reflectances of the light irradiation on the strips and the air, the light source of the bar code scanning device is mostly red light, and therefore, the bar code of the white space black bar is most easily read. In order to reduce the printing cost, some books and prints only print one color: red, yellow or orange, so that the bar code is also printed as a red bar on white, a yellow bar on white, and an orange on white, making the scanning device red. The reflectivity of the illumination on the strips and spaces is almost the same, making it impossible to read; some book cover designers do not understand the principle of reading barcodes, print black barcodes on dark blue, dark green, dark brown covers or print barcodes on them. The cover has a graphic place, so that the printing contrast (pcs value) of the bar code is small, so that the scanning instrument cannot be read. In this case, as long as the part of the background color of the cover bar code is hollowed out to white at the time of plate making, and then the black bar code is printed, the reading of the bar code can be guaranteed.
In order to ensure the printing quality of the bar code, the color of the bar should be black, dark blue, dark green, brown, and the empty color should be white, red, yellow, orange. These 16 combinations are the best choice. To understand the absorption and reflection of light, the color of the strip must absorb red light, so that the reflectivity of the strip is low; the empty color must reflect red light, so that the reflectivity of the empty is high. The strip reflectance maximum does not exceed 25%, the empty reflectance minimum is not less than 96%, and the bar code printing contrast (pcs value) is 67%~98%, and the bar code scanning instrument can correctly read.
Second, arbitrary scaling bar code size
Some books have too many small (64 open) or cover images, and there is not enough place to place the bar code, then the bar code size is reduced at will, causing the space to be too small or too thin, so that the scanning instrument can not read. Therefore, when the bar code needs to be reduced, the booklet code administrative department must use the special equipment to make the reduction code, and only shrink to 80% of the regular bar code.
Third, make your own barcode film
Some book barcodes are lost, and it is not allowed to make a bar code or copy the bar code of the original book and then take it to the plate. The quality of the self-made bar code film or the copied bar code itself is unqualified, so the bar code of the plate making and printing is definitely not qualified. If the barcode is lost, you must re-apply to the book and barcode administrative department to make a barcode.
4. Improper selection of printed paper, ink and equipment
Bar code strips and empty gaps are small. The printed paper, ink and equipment are not properly selected. It is easy to paste when printing. The strips become thicker and thinner. When the strip width deviation exceeds ±30%, the scanning instrument cannot read. Therefore, book bar code printing is best to choose offset printing, paper selection of coated paper, offset paper and other paper with less paper wool, the roller pad should not be too soft during printing, the ink flow is moderate, to ensure no paste. Bar code printing should ensure that the strips are clear, the dimensions are accurate, the strip width deviation and the printing contrast are within the specified range, in order to become a good product for book barcode printing.
