Barcode technology is a widely used method of automatic identification and electronic computer data input in the world, and is a management tool to improve work efficiency. The quality of bar code prints affects sales as much as the quality of the goods themselves. Qualified bar code symbols are a necessary guarantee for the automated management of POS systems. We have seen the relevant departments implement the bar code marking printing qualification system for printing enterprises, and test the trial printing and officially printed samples and products to ensure the quality of bar code prints. However, the situation after this is easy to ignore. Some of the product barcodes are tested as qualified products after being printed by the printing company, but become non-conforming products during the use of the system members and in the hands of the merchants. Pay attention to it.
There are usually the following situations:
Product shape design is incorrect
Commonly used are beverages, especially polyester bottles, which have a convex and concave shape, and the bar code symbols are usually printed on the plastic label. After the label is attached to the bottle, the shape of the bottle becomes uneven and wrinkles, resulting in bar code symbols. Can't read correctly. In this case, the shape of the bottle should be designed to ensure that the part of the label is smooth.
Barcode printing position is incorrect
For some bagged goods, the bar code symbol is printed close to the edge of the bag. Although the inspection is qualified after printing, after the contents are loaded, deformation and wrinkles occur, and the bar code equipment consumables cannot be correctly read. The correct way is to avoid the seams and deformation parts when designing the barcode position. It is best to first observe the flat part after loading the contents in the bag, and then print the bar code symbol at this position.
For some boxed goods, the bar code symbol is qualified when the box is tiled, but when the carton is folded, the bar code symbol is partially covered, or the left and right blank areas are insufficient. This should be fully considered when designing the barcode position.
In order to pursue the upgrade of the product, most of the products are covered with a heat shrinkable film, and there are cases where the barcode is unqualified.
After the heat shrinkable film is shrunk by heat, it cannot be flattened at the corners of the product to form wrinkles, and the bar code symbol at this position cannot be correctly read.
Some products, especially children's products, put marks, small toys, etc. between the heat shrinkable film and the merchandise to attract customers. The common one is bubble gum and three-dimensional crystal glue, which often hides part of the bar code symbol, making it unreadable.
It is common to mark the production date, production batch number, shelf life and so on.
Incorrectly marked on the bar code symbol, the boxed food uses the pad printing ink, and is marked with a manual printer. On some boxes, the bar code position is designed on the other side corresponding to the date of the mark, and the pad printing ink is changed. It takes a while to dry, and the quick-drying ink takes 2 to 5 seconds, and the slow-drying ink takes 5 seconds or more. When the box is pushed after the date is marked, the dry ink will contaminate the bar code symbol on the other box, and how much pollution is piled up to form a stain, which cannot be read correctly. This should be taken seriously when designing the barcode position.
Specially-priced frozen foods, such as ice cream, are taken out after being refrigerated, and the surface of the frozen food is condensed with a thin layer of ice at a low temperature, which completely or partially covers the bar code symbol, so that it cannot be read correctly. These items are seasonal and short-term, and should be in-store.
In short, to ensure the quality of bar code prints, not only the bar code printing process should be controlled, but also the use of bar code prints should be controlled. Only the printing of bar codes until the goods carrying bar code symbols are sold through the POS system. Pay attention to effectively promote the improvement of bar code quality.
