Yibin in southern Sichuan is a traditional industrial city with the name of “The First City of the Yangtze River”. In the tide of transition to the green ecological industry, Yibin Paper Mill, a paper mill with a history of nearly one hundred years, provoked the ecological industry and created a The bamboo-based ecological whole industrial chain.
As we all know, paper mills are big sources of pollution. Then, how did the Yibin paper mill stir up the ecological industry? Recently, the “Beautiful China Yangtze River Line - Dance Yangtze River Economic Belt, Ecological Article” network theme activity Sichuan station came to South Sichuan, into this old state-owned enterprises to find out.
In the 1990s, Yibin began to set up the Tufa paper mill. According to statistics from the Yibin City Environmental Protection Bureau, there were more than 1,000 such companies at the time. The discharge of alkaline waste water produced by paper mills into rivers will not only make the river smell odor, but also kill fish and shrimp in the water. Even if the wastewater is diluted downstream, the damage is still serious.
In order to build up the ecological barrier on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and replace them with green mountains and green mountains, Yibin City has made great efforts to rectify paper mills in recent years. Yibin Paper Mill has reached a new turning point in history.
Yi Cong, chairman of Yibin Paper Mill, told reporters: “We first determined that we must relocate as a whole and move away from the original residential area from the original site to the Lanshi Light Industrial Park in Nanxi District, Yibin, which is what everyone sees now.”
After the overall relocation, the environmental protection technology of Yibin Paper Mill was upgraded. The reporter saw a goldfish swimming in the sewage treatment area of the paper mill. Yi said from the introduction: “This tankfish is the most intuitive display. Treated sewage needs to raise live goldfish. Detailed indicators can be seen on the electronic display. Each of our indicators far exceeds the national standard.”
Sewage treatment is only a temporary solution, and the problem of raw materials is fundamental. After the relocation, the paper mills still use wood pulp and paper. Wood pulp comes from fast-growing forests on both sides of the Yangtze River. The year-round felling has been in short supply, which has a great impact on the ecological environment. In desperation, Yibin Paper Mill began to import wood pulp from abroad.
"The cost of imported wood pulp is getting higher and higher, and the survival of paper mills is facing a great crisis. Transformation is an inevitable path." said Yi.
Yibin is one of the most suitable regions for growing bamboo all over the world, with a bamboo forest area of 3.124 million mu. Relying on "Jinshan Yinshan Mountain", why didn't the Yibin paper mill think of using bamboo pulp instead of wood pulp for a long time, but instead sought to go far for import? Easy to break through the difficulties: The technical difficulties in using bamboo pulp have been unable to break through. Second, bamboo pulp is harsh on the variety conditions. Not all bamboos are suitable. In Yibin, there is no large-scale pulp bamboo forest. Sporadic cutting costs are higher than imported pulp.
In 2014, Yibin Paper Factory embarked on the transformation of the green ecological industry. After several experiments, the Yibin paper mill built a production base for wood pulp and bamboo forests, and screened and cultivated a variety called “Liangshan Mianzhu”. In 2014, paper mills began renting mountains to develop new varieties.
In Liujia Township, Nanxi District, Yibin District, Liu Wenxiu, an old man in his 60s, told reporters: “After contracting more than one mu of land in my family, there is an annual rent of 800 yuan. Zhulin’s chickens can also be used to make up for homes for one year.”
“Our use of bamboo pulp for papermaking first drives the enthusiasm of the people for planting bamboo. The more paper is made, the wider the type of bamboo forest is, so the mountain is green. This is only the first step. Next we will develop the forest economy. We raise chickens and raise pigs in the bamboo forest to make the people get rich by bamboo and get rid of poverty. Finally, we have to engage in farming, let tourism participate, and further increase the added value of the bamboo forest.” Yi said with confidence: “At present, we have already done 100% bamboo pulp and paper production, with a scale of 370,000 tons/year, a substantial increase of 147% before relocation, the company has achieved raw material adjustment, product adjustment, technological progress, scale improvement, environmental protection leadership, and achieved the transformation and upgrading development goals. It lays a solid foundation for future development.
From polluting large households to the ecological industry, this is the direction in which the entire Yibin paper industry is moving forward. According to the person in charge of Yiguang City Environmental Protection Bureau, the shutdown and demolition of over 1800 Tufa paper mills in Yibin City have all been completed, and several tributaries of the Yangtze River and streams have begun to reappear.
