Vacuum evaporation of a metal film is a new process for forming a composite film by vapor deposition of a metal on the surface of a film substrate under vacuum. The metallized material may be gold, silver, copper, zinc, chromium, aluminum, etc., and the most used is aluminum. A thin layer of metallic aluminum is applied to the surface of plastic film or paper (single or double sided) to form an aluminized film, which is widely used to replace aluminum foil composite materials such as aluminum foil/plastic, aluminum foil/paper. With the development of science and technology, vacuum vapor-deposited metal films are used more and more widely, mainly for the vacuum packaging of flavor foods, agricultural products, and the packaging of medicines, cosmetics and cigarettes. In addition, aluminized films are also widely used as bronzing materials and trademark label materials in printing.
Since the aluminum plated layer on the vacuum aluminized film is very thin, it cannot be detected by a conventional thickness measuring instrument. The GB/T 15717-1995 Vacuum Metal Coating Thickness Test Method - Resistance Method, drafted by the National Packaging Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center (Jinan), was promulgated in 1996, detailing how to detect the thickness of vacuum metal coating on the surface of insulating soft substrate. Test method. The thickness of the aluminized layer is measured by the electric resistance method, and the unit is Ω/□. The larger the value, the thinner the thickness of the aluminized layer, and the surface resistance of the vacuum aluminum-plated film is 1.0-2.5 Ω/□. The test principle: the metal coating of the sample is a piece of metal conductor, the metal plating resistance value of the sample of the specified length and width is measured according to Ohm's law, the thickness of the metal plating layer is represented by the square resistance or the thickness is directly calculated. In the standard, the vacuum metal plating thickness measuring device is also clearly defined. The resistance measurement error is not more than ±1%, the measuring width of the device is not less than 100m, and the distance accuracy between the two measuring heads is ±0.10mm.
To this end, Jinan Sanquan Zhongshi Experimental Instrument Co., Ltd. has newly developed the DMT-E metal coating thickness gauge, which is manufactured according to GB/T 15717-1995 Vacuum Metal Coating Thickness Test Method - Resistance Method, using high-precision contact measurement. With temperature compensation function, real-time data display, automatic statistics, equipped with a micro-printer can quickly print out the results of the display block resistance value, thickness value, uniformity and other related data. It meets the needs of major enterprises, quality supervision institutes and related testing institutions for measuring the thickness of vacuum metal coating on the surface of insulating soft substrates. It provides strong technical support for testing the quality of products in the packaging industry, and is also a major leap in the domestic experimental instrument industry.
Instrument test procedure
1. Place the metal coating measuring instrument and the sample in the environment of 23±2°C., 45%-55% RH specified in GB2918 for 4h.
2. Wipe the measuring head of the instrument with absolute ethanol before each measurement.
3. Place the sample flat on the rubber plate of the measuring instrument so that the measuring head is in good contact with the metal plating.
4. The instrument must be zeroed before each measurement.
5. Measure the resistance value of the sample.
The experimental results of the test automatically show the sheet resistance, metal plating thickness and uniformity of the printed metal coating.
