Braille printing is completely different from general graphic printing. Braille is composed of a number of differently arranged points. The blind person can read by the touch of a finger.
These ideas are not randomly arranged. The size, pitch, kerning and line spacing of the dots are fixed at the time of design according to the physiological and psychological characteristics of the blind person's touch, generally hemispherical and parabolic. The diameter of the bottom of the bump is 1 to 1.6, and the height is O. 2 to 0.5 coffee, the dot pitch is 2.2 to 2.8 coffee. The printing methods include an ink printing method, a hair printing method, and a mold imprint method.
1. Ink printing method
First of all, it is pointed out that the ink used for Braille printing is different from the general ink. It is a rosin ink made by adding a rosin auxiliary material to a common ink.
The ink printing method can be performed by ordinary letterpress printing or screen printing. The printed Braille print is heated and baked on the back side of the print before the ink has dried. The rosin powder in the ink layer melts rapidly and the volume expands, causing the blind spot to bulge, which is why the rosin is added to the ink. . Then stapled to become the final print. Due to the coarser rosin powder particles in the ink layer,
Therefore, it is not suitable for printing Braille patterns, only Braille text can be printed.
2. Foam printing method
Similar to the ink printing method, the ink used in the foam printing method is an ink having foaming properties. This ink utilizes microcapsule technology, which contains microparticles filled with a low boiling solvent. After screen printing and heating, the solvent in the microparticles vaporizes, the volume of the particles expands, and the image is solidified into an embossed pattern at normal temperature.
The foam printing method can be designed and plated by computer, which reduces the traditional plate making process; it is also suitable for special graphic printing;
The thickness of the printed product is only 2/3 of the rosin ink printing; the pip is durable and not easily damaged. Therefore, this printing method is currently the most widely used Braille printing method.
3. Mold imprinting
The special thick paper is placed between the two Braille embossing mold iron sheets, and after heating and pressing, the thick paper is pressed to form different convex points. If you find that there is an error in the layout, just knock the wrong points and re-create them. This printing method does not require ink and has been largely eliminated.
Braille printing is an indispensable part of the special printing field, but it still needs to be developed in terms of its printing technology. With the continuous improvement of Braille printing technology, the quality of Braille printing will continue to improve.
