With the development of the printing industry, the RIP function in the traditional sense can no longer meet the growing requirements of the printing industry. RIP has faded out of the printing stage and the digital process is popular.


First, RIP and prepress digital workflows are defined separately


RIP full name raster image processor, RIP's main role is to interpret various images, graphics and text in the computer production layout into dot matrix information that can be recorded by printers or imagesetters, and then control printers or imagesetters to record image dot matrix information. RIP is usually divided into hardware RIP and software RIP, and there are also soft and hard RIP. Hardware RIP is actually a dedicated computer dedicated to interpreting page information. The prepress digital workflow is the transformation of RIP and the perfection of its functions. In a sense, RIP is an early prototype of digital workflow. Nowadays, the digital workflow has covered the work of RIP. RIP is only one part of the process. The process uses a different technology and direction to provide more RIP than RIP. More features. Before the emergence of the digital workflow, RIP, digital proofing, color management, and layout are all independent modules.
