Compared with cigarette labels, wine packaging has some obvious features. There are many varieties of wine and many grades. Overall, the difficulty of printing wine packaging is not as complicated as that of cigarettes. Printing is mainly based on offset printing and several typical post-processing, and gravure printing and screen printing are complementary.
Relevant people in the industry believe that wine packaging printing is still mainly based on offset printing, and the printing colors are mainly four colors and spot colors. Labels for wine packaging are generally printed on coated paper, for example, high grade coated papers having a basis weight of 80 g/m2 and 128 g/m2. The wine box is printed with white cardboard and white cardboard with a basis weight of 350g/m2.
The wine packaging printing is traditionally based on offset printing. It uses a thick paper multi-color offset printing machine, such as the Heidelberg multi-color offset printing machine. It is beautifully printed and fast. It can print thick paper of 0.6~1.0mm, and the speed can reach 1.5. 10,000 sheets / hour, printing wine box is very suitable.
Offset printing is a relatively mature printing process, especially in the screen printing, there is a set of standardized, data-based methods. However, in addition to the screen printing, wine packaging printing involves a large number of spot color reproduction, such as large area of red, gold (silver), pearl effect and so on. Since spot colors, especially spot colors in the field, have higher requirements for saturation and brightness, and offset printing is limited by the thickness of the ink layer when printing on the ground, it is not enough. At this time, you can use the two printing methods of 'first deep and then shallow'. When designing, try to avoid the hollow text on the solid version to avoid increasing the difficulty of overprinting.
Nowadays, since the packaging materials of the wine are generally made of composite paper materials and printed with ordinary ink, there are problems such as adhesion, abrasion resistance and poor drying property. Therefore, the manufacturers generally carry out uv technical transformation on the offset printing machine, which fundamentally solves the problems of the composite paper printing. Since uv ink greatly improves the physical properties of the surface of the ink layer, some packaging and printing enterprises have begun to use offset uv ink to print the effect that is difficult to achieve with some ordinary offset printing such as fine sand, gold and silver.
Gravure has become an alternative to wine packaging printing due to its high saturation, high contrast, high brightness, strong consistency and high printing durability. If the art design draft is large, the ink color is required to be thick, the ordinary offset printing is slightly insufficient, and the gravure printing method can meet the demand. Another advantage of gravure printing is that it can print other substrates than paper, such as printing on a laser anti-counterfeiting film and then compounding it with cardboard to achieve another visual effect.
Since the gravure printing package is mostly in the field, color blocks and lines, the requirements for color management in the plate making are relatively strict, and the printing process control is relatively easy compared to offset printing and flexographic printing.
The artistic effects of screen printing such as frosting, refraction, ice, wrinkles and the like make the wine box packaging icing on the cake, which greatly stimulates consumers' desire to purchase. In addition, because the brightness of the product is increased after the partial glazing of the screen uv, the stereoscopic effect is strong, and it is often used in the finishing of the wine packaging box. Flexographic printing is currently rarely used in the printing of wine packaging boxes, and some beer labels use this printing method. I believe that the advantages of environmental protection and hygiene will gradually be recognized and favored by the winery.
Looking forward to the trend of wine packaging printing in the future, the industry believes that a variety of process combinations will become an ideal way for wine packaging printing, combined printing can fully play the characteristics of several printing methods. For example, when printing a product with a rich layer, you can choose offset printing; when printing a spot color or gold (silver) ink, you can use a single sheet of gravure. Screen printing can be used when special decorative effects are required.
The combination of offset printing, gravure printing and screen printing brings a strong visual impact to the wine packaging box. With the post-processing process, the wine packaging box becomes a favorite piece of art.
