With the short delivery time required by the printing market and the progress of small batches, competition tends to intensify, and it is difficult to stop low prices. Therefore, in order to cope with the evolution of the market environment, printing companies intend to establish a production system that aims at thorough rationalization. At the same time, there is also a need to be aware of the need to protect the environment. In view of this, it is worthwhile to select a few technologies that are worthy of attention in the printing production project.

Unique ink fountain device

At the International Printing Equipment Show held in Japan in 2005, there was a unique ink fountain that could be loaded onto the ink supply of the printing press. Although the button of the ink fountain roller is fixed, its ink transfer roller is divided. The separately divided ink rollers are driven by air pressure to contact the ink fountain roller, and the ink supply amount is adjusted according to the contact width thereof.

There is a dedicated software for ink control that allows fine adjustment of the pattern and amount of ink in the print at the same time. In addition, the cleaning of the ink fountain is also very simple, using a roll of film like a polyethylene wrapper to cover the entire ink fountain. When the ink fountain is washed, the ink-coated film is scraped off with a squeegee, and then rolled up. The film on the take-up device can be replaced.

Such a device can be mounted on a machine such as a sheetfed press, a trademark printer, a beverage can printer, a commercial form printer, or the like. In this way, the ink supply can be stabilized, and waste pages in the printing process can be reduced, thereby improving work efficiency.

Roll to sheet related to cost reduction

In the paper feeding portion of a sheet-fed printing press, a device for feeding paper to the printing press can be used. This is a structure in which the paper cutter is cut to a set size and the paper is fed in a single sheet state. Originally developed in Europe and the United States, the background of its development is that Europe and the United States do not have the same kind of paper logistics system that can easily provide various papers, mainly considering the cost reduction of waste and the failure of the corresponding paper feeding device. The evaluation made by the imported printing company is able to reasonably achieve the cutting of paper.

The more the operation of such a device for a large batch of work or the use of the same specification paper, the cost can be saved and the productivity can be improved, and at the same time, the cost of stacking paper is not required, and the work efficiency is naturally improved.

It is expected to expand the new business of water-based varnish

Heidelberg Japan provides a 10-color printing press that can print both sides of the paper and can apply water-based varnish. S p e e d Ma s t e rSM102. In principle, water-based varnishes are alcohols and are not considered to be compatible with oily inks, but the application of water-based varnishes is considered to be a problem of high imagination. There are already materials suitable for this method in Europe. In the past, there was no such thing in Japan. Recently, ink-based varnishes have been developed by ink manufacturers to apply water-based varnish on oily inks and dry by IR.

The structure is that when the water-based varnish is applied, the automatic cloth cleaning device is removed, and the water-based varnish coating device is replaced. IR drying was then carried out at the take-up portions after the fifth and tenth rollers.

This two-sided, one-time, water-based varnish printing reduces bruising and soiling of the printed surface. The biggest advantage is that it can be used to develop new business projects at a lower cost and shorter drying time than with UV inks.

Printing function of special raw materials expands business activities

Komori Printing Machinery Co., Ltd. offers a Lithrone S40, a printing press that can print on special substrates such as evaporated paper, transparent raw materials, and biochemical paper. It is eye-catching.

Conventional oil-based inks are often printed using UV inks for special substrates because of the time-consuming drying time. When a UV ink is used, the configuration of the printing press is also different from the case of using an oily ink. A UV-specific plate, ink roller, ink cleaning solution, UV lamp, etc. are required. As for the printing of special substrates, it is easy to cause emulsification due to poor absorption of ink and dampening solution, so efforts should be made to the water supply device. Once the printing company holds this specially constructed printing press, the scope of business activities can be extended to get rid of the price competition.

Printed product inspection device with improved speed and accuracy

The inspection device relies on the camera or the light source to compare the read data with the correct data originally registered, thereby detecting the flaws and smudges on the printed product, and the inaccuracy. At the 2005 International Exhibition, more accurate and faster devices were introduced. Usually, it is used to check the surface of printed products, especially for printing companies that require strict inspection of pharmaceutical packaging. Today, most printing companies still take visual inspections, but it is ultimately limited and will affect accuracy based on physical conditions. In view of this, the inspection work relying on the human tactics is ultimately to be converted to rely on machinery.

Promising single-drive sheetfed press

At present, the automation of the printing press has reached an automatically pre-set point, which greatly reduces the burden on the operator, and enterprises that have been equipped with women on the rotary machine have appeared. Separate drive generally refers to innovations in offset rotary presses. The original printing machine was always driven by the whole machine as a whole, while the single drive was driven by a special motor alone. This is designed to improve the efficiency of replacing plates. When replacing plates in the past, they are always replaced one by one, and the increase in color number will cost more time to change the plate. Now changing to a plate cylinder can be driven separately, and all the cylinders can be changed at once.

Depending on the machine, there may be some differences. Any printing company that introduces this innovative approach has achieved time-savings and reduced the burden on the operator. In the future, it is expected that the single-sheet printing press that is driven separately will be popularized.

Endless environmental issues

Regardless of the ISO management system, as a means of responding to environmental requirements, it is the unprocessed printing plate that can be favored by customers. When it comes to the printing plate corresponding to the environment, the first version is not horizontal. Because it is marked by butterflies, customers are currently very concerned about the butterfly trademark. In Japan, about 130 companies have joined the Japan Non-Horizon Printing Association (JWPA).

After the horizontal level exposure, the silicon layer exposed by the pretreatment liquid is swollen, and the portion is scraped with a brush. To improve the visibility, the image portion is dyed and then washed with water. It is recognized as an environmentally friendly method because it does not have waste liquid. Nowadays it has become a model of no-processing, which has attracted the attention of the industry.
