In recent years, with the popularity of four-color machines and multi-color machines, multi-color printing has been completed on multi-color machines at one time, which has greatly improved production efficiency and printing quality. However, in production, it is often required to take two machines or A job that can be completed by "flowing". For example, some five-color prints need to overprint large-color dark-colored solid color inks such as gold or silver. The ink color is required to be thick and bright, and the gold and silver inks should have a strong metallic luster. If such a job is printed in one print using a five-color offset press, it is actually difficult to achieve the desired effect.

As we all know, multi-color offset printing presses are "wet and wet" overprinting, while dark solids are often two-color or even multi-color overprinting. The ink layer is relatively thick, and printing is inherently difficult, plus Overprinting gold and silver inks is even more difficult. Because the transferability and adhesion of gold and silver inks are relatively poor, it is easy to overprint onto thicker and undried ink layers, and the defects such as false imprinting and loss of metallic luster of gold and silver inks are not good. There will also be a phenomenon of "overprinting". In addition, because the chemical properties of gold and silver inks are unstable, the transferability is poor, and printing in the "wet and wet" state must reduce the speed of the printing machine, which greatly affects the production efficiency of the multicolor machine.

Such printing methods with low efficiency and poor quality will be avoided as much as possible by the printing factory. Generally, the method of printing on the machine is used twice. After the four-color ink to be printed is dried, the gold and silver inks are superimposed on the machine, and the quality can be obtained. Very good guarantee. However, if you use a four-color machine to print twice, there will be several color groups "running empty cars", which is too wasteful and less efficient. Therefore, a four-color machine plus a monochrome machine "flowing operation" production mode is generally adopted, which not only ensures the printing quality but also improves the production efficiency of the four-color machine.

In terms of printing press combination, in order to ensure accurate overprinting, especially for printing with difficult overprinting, the author still advocates the use of the same type of monochrome machine and four color machine. However, we have also tried different combinations of offset presses. For example, after Heidelberg four-color machine printing, using a "08" machine to print gold and silver inks, the effect is also good, but the machine adjustment is more troublesome, and it is necessary to properly control the change of the "blot" of the two machines, especially For prints such as thicker cardboard, the "blot" changes more, so it is more difficult to control and must be given enough attention.

Although the offsetting machine "flowing operation" has certain difficulty, as long as it is bold to explore and dare to practice, it is completely controllable.
