Post-press processing technology - riding nails
Saddle nails, also known as saddle binding, belong to a method of book binding, such as stepping on the back of a horse. After the thin book is covered, it is straddled on an iron frame to pierce the nails of the wire.
The text part of the book is not bound into the heart of the book in advance, but is bound and cut together with the cover and then the whole book and periodical. The cover and bottom cover of the book are exactly the same size as the pages in the center, while the spine is narrow and rounded, and the wire used for the binding is clearly exposed, so the text cannot be printed. The binding method of saddle nails can flatten the entire print or book at 180 degrees, which is suitable for magazines, children's books, etc., or pictures with rich and cross-page effects.
The binding cycle is short and the cost is low, but the firmness of the binding is poor, and the wire used is difficult to penetrate the thick sheets. Saddle bound prints require the number of pages set by the page number to be a multiple of 4, otherwise there will be white pages or this binding method cannot be used; In addition, books with more than 32 pages (64 sides) are not suitable for saddle binding.
