Optimal drying temperature and time for PET
The optimal drying temperature and time range for PET is 150°C to 180°C, and the drying time is 5 to 7 hours. The specific temperature and time will vary depending on factors such as the viscosity, crystallinity and additives of PET. PET with high viscosity usually requires a higher temperature, while PET with higher crystallinity requires a higher drying temperature. If the PET contains temperature-sensitive additives, such as flame retardants or plasticizers, the drying temperature should be appropriately reduced to avoid decomposition or failure
The influence of different factors on the drying temperature and time
Viscosity: High viscosity PET requires a higher drying temperature to facilitate the diffusion and evaporation of moisture; Low-viscosity PET can be dried at relatively low temperatures.
Crystallinity: The moisture in PET with higher crystallinity is more difficult to remove, so it requires a higher drying temperature; Amorphous PET can be dried at a lower temperature.
Additives: If PET contains temperature-sensitive additives, such as flame retardants or plasticizers, the drying temperature should be appropriately reduced to avoid decomposition or failure of the additives.
Drying equipment is recommended
In the selection of drying equipment, it is recommended to use a three-in-one dehumidification dryer. The rotor dehumidification system provides a dehydrated, low-dew-point hot and dry air flow to meet the requirements of plastics processing. It removes moisture from the plastic through a molecular sieve to ensure the quality requirements of the plastic before processing.
