The description of the print test applies only to sheet-fed presses. Most tests are not suitable for web printing presses. The blankets and plates used in web presses must be sized to match the test. The printing ink test should use the prescribed printing oil and be carried out on the web printing press in another way.

When doing each printing test, we are always concerned with the effect of a fixed amount (printing conditions), and this fixed amount can only be changed if we must keep any one of the active quantities stable. Under most printing conditions, this is easy for us to do.
When doing various printing tests P., the same paper must be used, not only of good quality but also of good printability. This is important to prevent harmful and severe dot gains caused by printing defects such as ghosting or stacking of paper on blankets and rollers.
When performing various types of printing tests, the solid color density should be as uniform as possible throughout the width of the printed sheet. Here, the actual color should correspond to the color sample produced according to the European color standard DIN16539 (for formal printing standards, see section 5.3).
If black ink is used for the printing oil m test, it is best to have the ink manufacturer print the solid color sample (black sample) with the ink layer thickness of the ink.
For operators, the most difficult is to measure the ink fountain temperature and water delivery conditions and keep it stable. Because the printer has no measurement data at all. Therefore, special attention must be paid to the printing test. Only when the printing press is in a stable ink-water balance state and the temperature in the ink fountain device does not change much, the printer can check the printed sheets. The easiest way is to print at least 1,000 to 2,000 sheets at a time, then measure the solid color density on the top and scrub the blanket. After printing 300 to 500 sheets of measuring paper, three to five sheets of sheets are checked each time.
When the test is difficult, the above-mentioned run-in test may be repeated to ensure the reliability of the measurement results.
