From October 15th to 18th, 2006, at the printing industry exhibition held in Chicago, Heidelberg exhibited a Speedmaster CD74 offset press with improved delivery, and showed its extraordinary productivity to the audience. .
The new drive concept in the delivery system is the highlight of the exhibition, which is specifically designed to make the machine achieve efficient paper braking. On double-sided printing, this innovative technology guarantees faster production times and a more reliable production process than in the past, especially when printing jobs require thinner paper or are limited by special printed images. When only two brake modules can be used, the advantages of the new technology are revealed. On the single-sided printing model, thanks to the improved delivery, the operator can use a lighter and thinner paper than 135 g/m2 and a higher speed than 15,000 sheets/hour for more stable production. To achieve this effect, a new pneumatic pick-up device is required, which improves the paper stack state of the delivery system and makes the entire system more precise. The new system expands the number of original fans from eight to eight. The honeycomb grid is located just below the fan and acts to promote a more even air flow over the paper.
Paper-interval control technology was previously only used on longer perfecting presses, and today, on shorter double-sided presses, this technology is also a big hit. Thanks to this, the paper is free of scratches during the entire transfer from the paper feed to the delivery. An ultrasonic sensor is mounted on the last printing unit for measuring the distance between the paper and the guide. It adjusts the airflow according to a predetermined characteristic curve to achieve contactless paper transfer. This process is fully automatic and can be applied to any gram-weight paper and significantly reduces production lead time.
Many core technology components have been added to the intelligent paper transport concept to ensure reliable paper runs and no scratches. Since October 2006, the new paper brake system has become the standard configuration for the Speedmaster CD74 offset press, which complements the CDWAR's other optional 18,000 sheets/hour production speed. At the same time, the new pneumatic system at the delivery unit is also standard on all models of the CD74. In addition, on all double-sided presses with lengths of 8 or more offset units, the paper gap control technology is a fixed item in the standard configuration package. From October 2006, this technology will become an optional configuration for shorter double-sided presses.
The Heidelberg Speedmaster CD74 is a new product launched at the Drupa Expo in 2000. Since the Drupa show in 2004, the Speedmaster CD74 has been carrying flip-flip devices. By the summer of 2005, the CD74 double-sided press had been configured with up to 12 printing units. Excellent productivity, flexibility and a wide range of applicability are the main reasons why the Speedmaster CD74 offset press has won praise from many users. At the 2006 IPEX exhibition in the UK, Heidelberg exhibited a Speedmaster CD74 ten-color machine, which was loaded with a glazing unit before and after the machine's paper turning device. This configuration can increase the productivity of the client by 30%, the printing time is shorter, and the printed matter can reach the post-press processing link earlier. At the 2006 IPEX exhibition, the Speedmaster CD74, which runs at a speed of 18,000 sheets per hour, has also become a highly anticipated "star" offset press.
