A recent survey by Gartner, Inc., an authoritative IT research and consulting firm, shows that in 2009, the trend of traditional offset printing was more pronounced, and the status of digital printing increased significantly.

According to the survey results of “printing methods and printed materials like traditional offset printing or digital printing”, the dominant position of traditional offset printing methods in terms of printing quality and printing price was surpassed by digital printing for the first time, and the results were shocking.

In the survey of users about digital prints or offset prints, traditional offsets are inferior to digital printing in terms of quality and price. Between the scores of 1 (lowest score) -7 (the highest score), traditional offset printing Toners, liquid inks, and inkjets are higher than conventional printing, and the results show:

Dry toner - 5.68

Liquid toner - 5.40

Inkjet - 5.24

Offset printing - 5.17

Using the same standard score, the investigator responded to the value of the funds invested:

Dry toner - 5.58

Liquid toner - 5.29

Inkjet - 5.23

Offset printing - 5.13

The results of these surveys were conducted by telephone to a total of 443 highly qualified printing company senior managers, captains or software procurement leaders from four countries in France, Germany and the United Kingdom.

Interestingly, German participants are not the same as respondents in other countries, and the quality of offset printing and the use of funds are biased towards digital printing. This difference may be due to the traditional thinking of German printing companies that can print high-quality prints through their offset presses. If you exclude the German survey results, the advantages of digital printing are very large.

An analysis by Gartner Inc. is also very strange to the survey results. He said: "We hope that print service providers will score higher on traditional offset quality than other printing methods. But the result is not the case, they have low scores on offset quality. For other printing methods, the way of dry toner printing is considered to be the best way to invest."

For 20 years, digital printing users have had to admit the unique short-run printing advantages of digital printing. Now, the first survey of Gaode Company found that customers outperform traditional offset printing in terms of the value of money used in digital printing and the quality of printing.

Undoubtedly, digital printing will dominate the book and publishing market (books, brochures, magazines, etc.) for a certain period of time. With the impact of digital printing, the number of offset printing will continue to decline, no matter where you work, these survey data reflect that digital printing has taken an absolute advantage over offset printing in the publications and billing marketing documents market.
