    Grooving machine

    Flattening and drying

After the book core is brightened by the book, the front and rear envelopes are bonded to the ring lining, but they are not strong. They must be flattened to remove the air remaining between the lining and the book case, so that they are firmly bonded and flat. In addition, the paste between the ring of the book block and the book case contains a lot of water, which forms a one-side humidification effect of the ring liner and the book case. If the book is naturally dried, it will inevitably cause the book case. Warp. In order to avoid this phenomenon, enhance the compactness of the book, and at the same time increase the bonding fastness between the loop lining and the back material of the book and the book cover, flatten it immediately after the upper book case, and dry it under tight pressure. . The method of flattening is to stack the books in a neatly interlaced manner with the back and front mouth, and press them on the wooden board of the flattener.

The time for flattening and drying depends mainly on the water content of the glue liquid per unit area of the ring village and the thickness of the book block. The time for flattening and drying is proportional to the thickness of the book block. The general book takes about 2 to 4 hours in the flattener until the book is dry. It takes about 2 hours of drying time per 1 cm thick book block.

    Pressure groove

The flattened book is then subjected to a press and forming process to complete the final processing of the hardcover book. The pressure groove is a soft book groove with a width of about 3 mm pressed at the front and back of the book and the joint of the spine, as shown in Figure 6-21. The book slot is an integral part of the book's exterior decoration, making the book beautiful. After the groove is pressed, the book slot and the spine are firmly adhered together to protect the book block from deformation and maintain the shape of the spine portion of the book case. The book with the groove is easy to read, the hard cover is flipped along the book slot, and the back of the book is not moved, so that the book cover and the book block are not easily broken, and the life of the book is prolonged.

The pressure groove is divided into two methods: manual pressure groove and mechanical pressure groove.

Manually pressing the groove is to use a special hot-blade knife heated to 50-60 °C, and press the surface material to force a flat groove along the book slot. After pressing one side, flip the book over and press the groove on the other side.

The machine presses the groove, which uses a groove forming machine instead of manual stamping and forming of the book. The groove forming machine can be connected to the upper case machine and can also be used as a stand-alone machine. The temperature of the groove should be determined according to the thickness of the surface material of the book case, and it is generally kept at 50 to 60 ° C. It takes a certain period of time to press the groove on the book case. Therefore, the groove forming machine is a processing machine that performs the same process at multiple stations. The assembled hardcover book is conveyed into the groove forming machine, and a groove is pressed out by the machine's gland at the connection between the front and back of the book case and the back of the book.

    Package protection

A protective cover is an enveloping paper that is placed over the cover of a book. In order to protect the cover tightly outside the book, the front and back of the book are used to fold the written portion into the cover. At the mouth of the mouth, you can also print the author's profile, the content summary or the name of the book series. The cover is generally used for decorating books or classics. Its function is to protect the cover and increase the solemnity and artistic effect of the book.

The protective cover is called the protective sleeve along the folded edge of the book case, which is about 35~50mm wider than the front opening of the book block (not less than 1/3 of the width of the book block).

The protective cover is generally made of paper with good texture, printed with a pattern, treated with glazing or laminating, and sometimes with a transparent film.
