Biodegradable mulch refers to a type of plastic mulch

- Oct 15, 2019-

Biodegradable mulch refers to a type of plastic mulch that can cause degradation by microorganisms under natural environmental conditions. When microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and actinomycetes attack the plastic film, the polymer component is hydrolyzed, ionized, or protonated due to the growth of the cells, mechanically broken, and split into oligomer fragments. Enzymes secreted by fungi or bacteria cause the water-soluble polymer to decompose or oxidatively decompose into water-soluble fragments, forming new small molecule compounds until eventually decomposed into CO 2 and H 20 .

Biodegradable mulch film is a new type of ground cover film, mainly used for ground cover to increase soil temperature, maintain soil moisture, maintain soil structure, prevent pests from invading crops and diseases caused by certain microorganisms, and thus promote plant growth.

There are many methods for classifying biodegradable mulch films, which can be classified into the following types according to different classification methods:

1. According to the degradation mechanism and the failure mode, the biodegradable mulch film can be divided into two types: a fully biodegradable mulch film and an additive biodegradable mulch film.

The fully biodegradable mulch film is a plastic film composed of substances that can be completely decomposed by microorganisms. The material is mainly derived from starch, cellulose, chitosan and other polysaccharide natural materials, and the final products of degradation are C02 and H20. It is completely consumed by nature and does not cause secondary pollution to the environment. The main varieties are polylactic acid (PLA), polycaprolactone (PCL), polyhydroxybutyrate (PUB) and the like. In addition, polyvinyl alcohol can be completely degraded by water and microorganisms. [1]

The added biodegradable mulch film is prepared by adding a natural or synthetic polymer having biodegradability or a biodegradation accelerator, a processing aid, etc., on the basis of a general-purpose plastic having no biodegradability. At present, the added biodegradable mulch film is mainly composed of general-purpose plastics, starch, compatibilizer, self-oxidizing agent and processing aid. Its typical variety is a polyethylene starch biodegradable film.

2, according to raw materials, biodegradable mulch film can be divided into starch-based biodegradable mulch film, cellulose-based biodegradable mulch film, cellulose and other natural polymer materials blending and copolymerization film, lignin-based biodegradable mulch film.

3. According to the molding process, biodegradable mulch films can be classified into film type, injection type, sheet type and foam type.

1, PE

Polyethylene (PE) is the most widely used variety of synthetic resin in China. With the development of petrochemical industry, polyethylene production has developed rapidly, and its output accounts for about 1/4 of the total output of polymer plastic products. In 2008-2011, new polyethylene projects in the Asia-Pacific region are mainly located in China, India and South Korea, and China will continue to be a source of power. China is becoming the world's largest exporter of PE film and packaging bags, supplying large quantities to North America, Western Europe and Japan. In addition, strong demand for films, woven bags, pipes, cable materials, hollow containers, and totes will drive the growth of polyethylene consumption. Therefore, China's polyethylene production capacity will continue to grow rapidly. It is estimated that by 2010 China's polyethylene production will reach 17 million tons, and the demand will reach 14.14 million tons. It can be said that domestic PE raw materials supply sufficient amount of biodegradable mulch film.

2. Starch China's annual output of various starches exceeds 10 million tons, and it has become the world's largest producer of starch. Starch production technology has also become one of the world's strongest countries, and many technological processes have reached the international advanced level. Since 2001, China's total starch production has increased at an average annual rate of 17%. In 2005, the output reached 11.06 million tons, ranking first in the world. In 2008, the total starch production was 18.18 million tons, an increase of 1.68 million tons from 2007, an increase of 10.18%.

The starch industry is known as a sunrise industry, which can directly drive the development of agriculture, food, paper, medicine, chemicals, petroleum and many other industries. At present, although China's starch industry has made great progress, the annual per capita consumption is only 8.5 kg, which is 9.4% in the US and 36.6% in Japan, which is lower than the per capita consumption level in Thailand. Therefore, the supply of starch raw materials in China is not as good as PE, but At present, the domestic biodegradable mulch film yield is low, and the demand for starch is small. As a whole, the supply of starch does not limit the biodegradable mulch film.

we offer patented full biodegradable film and PVA bag, all products are made by casting equipment, It is different from traditional blow molding products, all blow molding products are non full biodegradable. We can produce pva films and bags in full transparent and various colors. and the PVA film is more smooth than the traditional blow molding products.

we also offer organic material full biodegradable film and bags with patented raw material and production Process.
