Raster processing of files has always been a nightmare. When a file is sent into RIP, no matter how expensive or sophisticated, it seems to be the same as the horse's bet. Look at the output of the machine, and ask God to have a film to output. But even if there is a film output, please don't be too early, please check the film carefully to see if it is high printability. Furthermore, it depends on what is output, whether it is what you or the designer expects. Summarize three key issues:

In order to avoid the changes caused by unnecessary output calculations, I suggest that you adopt some foreign experience and turn to some electronic file formats with higher output stability, so that the designers of the files can solve this most basic headache problem from the file production. First understand the problem from the root of the problem. One of the most important functions of RIP raster processing is to calculate the high resolution resolution matrix output file available for low resolution desktop design files. Therefore, the TIFF-1bit or TIFF format is the safest, and the high resolution PDF is safer than the PS format. TIFF-1bit is more suitable for printing, and PDF/X is an ideal choice if you want to cross the factory. In the United States, the PDF/x-1a and SWOP standards are popular as the industry-wide format, and in Europe, the PDF/x-3 format is recommended. The author tends to suggest that the industry consider adopting PDF/x-3. If the print designer can provide PDF/x-3 files to the output department. Basic output inconsistencies can be avoided. But the problem is that there is a lot of basic printing knowledge to produce PDF/x-3 files. In fact, if you think of it, anyone can say that you can generate PDF files for output printing. It would be better to ask him to seriously and think clearly before exporting an industrially recognized file.


Inspection of printing requirements

But don't think that preflight is nothing. Here, most of the pre-tests can also normally detect conditions such as insufficient picture resolution, or OPI missing pictures, or color separation and spot color processing is not normal, that is, four colors and five colors are printed.

It is not really a close look at the Content part of the file, so sometimes even if it passes the test, it is really wrong when it comes to RIPPING. Because of the improvement of computer computing power, there are two companies in the market that provide pre-checking software. The pre-checking method is to simulate RIPPING, that is, they do not look at the header of the file, but directly calculate the file to see if there is any problem. Of course, these two softwares require computers with higher capabilities to operate, but they are really the most secure preflight software.
